North Metropolitan TAFE is the established State Government provider of vocational education and training for the northern Perth region.

The organisation originated from the recent merger of the former West Coast Institute of Training and Central Institute of Technology. This merger is a result of key changes that have been made to Western Australia’s TAFE system, which will ultimately deliver new choices to students, industry and the community of Western Australia.

North Metropolitan TAFE now has nine campuses located across the greater north metropolitan region in; Clarkson, East Perth, Joondalup (Kendrew, McLarty and Injune), Leederville, Mt Lawley, Nedlands and Perth (Northbridge).

With approximately 1300 staff and over 350 full time courses, North Metropolitan TAFE delivers skilled graduates in occupational priority areas such as Community Services, Education, Hospitality, Business, Engineering, Building & Construction, Health Sciences and Creative Industries.

    Debra began her teacher training career in the area of English as a Second Language, where she was fortunate enough to work with colleagues highly skilled in collaborative learning and has been a fan of co-operative learning ever since.

    Since 2009, she has worked in the Workforce Development and Training team at Central Institute of Technology. Debra’s current areas of interest include effective communication in the workplace, the role of co-operative learning in reaching students at risk and the role of training in organisational culture change.
